I build technology that gives unpaid carers a break. The rest of me takes a little longer to explain.
Hallo, I’m Joey.
I’m CTO at Carefree (opens in a new tab), a tech-first national charity turning unused hotel rooms into breaks for unpaid carers. For more than six years, I’ve designed and built the technology behind it, bringing together two decades in hospitality operations and the experience of founding two tech startups.
AI is an increasing part of that work, and a wider fascination: whether we’re building a better world or getting ourselves into spectacular trouble.
Outside work, I’m papa to twins and drawn to thoughtful design and good food. I have a fairly broad definition of a good night out. Jazz, opera, theatre, Four Tet. The Barbican is usually a safe bet.
I’m curious about how we can live longer and better, and what makes life richer in the first place.
